The Crypt of St. Cumarin: Kurt, you brought the key right? Right?? - Delve #7 (Play Report)

This is a play report for a megadungeon run by my friend bueI have been told that it contains material from Dyson's Delve. FMC Basic is our framework of choice.

The report for the 6th delve was lost. It was short, we found a lot of treasure, about 7'000 in coins.

After some rest, we decided to return to the part of the Tomb of St. Cumarin that had proven to be so profitable. We hired a new retainer, Pomela Anderson Moonhelm, but couldn't find any other suitable help willing to delve. So the party consisted of 8-Finger Kurt Krieger, Korbinian the Wise, Pomela A. Moonhelm, and Bill Batmann.

The path to the third floor was clear, and we arrived on the third floor without being interrupted. After checking out a hallway and some more of the burial niches, we ventured south.

And there it was, a big iron door with a large keyhole decorated with an ouroboros symbol.

Wait, didn't I find a big iron key a couple of weeks ago when we fought the ceiling crawler widerling, the creature that Korbinian deemed to be a ghoul? Yes, I did! I stashed it safely in our quarters.

I almost fainted from slapping myself with my plate-armored hand.

all of these should come with a big chain
and a tag that says DO NOT LEAVE ME AT HOME!

Korbinian just smirked before revealing that he had been working on a spell of teleportation that would open up a gateway between two distant points. He would just need to make sure that he remembered the target location.

Before using the spell for running an errand, we opted to explore further. This led us to a natural cavern that would probably lead us to the place where we first had accessed the floor. We never got to confirm our suspicion, as we were assaulted by a group of scorpion flies. One of these beasts had once almost slain Kurt. But Korbinian did not hesitate long and cast a spell he calls Lord of Pestilence to subdue the insects to his will. Thus he sent them away.

We returned to the locked gate and started clearing out a nearby burial niche. I marked it with a little message: “K&K reigns supreme.” Then Korbinian opened the portal, and we finally were able to open the ouroboros gate.

I am quite curious if this room is from Dyson's Delve or not...

We found a diamond-shaped room with a large ouroboros mosaic on the floor and four mirrors covered with silk fabric.

8-Finger Kurt Krieger peeked into the first one and saw himself reflected as an even more powerful man. He could feel himself grow in strenght.

Korbinian the Wise decided to look into one of the other mirrors and was gifted a pocket mirror. The little trinket is capable of emitting a bright beam of light, strong enough to burn a foe.

Kurt, emboldened by the first mirror's gift, looked into the third one and was granted an insight into the secrets of the cosmos at a single moment in time.

Korbinian looked into the fourth and last mirror and was greeted by a reflection of hate. The duplicate Korbinian used the pocket mirror to burn his fleshy counterpart and jumped out of the mirror, his sword drawn. Korbinian was lying on the ground, bleeding out. Immediately I hurled my magic dagger at the mirror. Bill and Pomela raised their weapons. The reflection was struck down; the mirror shattered.

Quickly we returned to Korbinian's portal that was still open and brought Korbinian to safety.

It seemed obvious that we were in need of more eager hands to succeed in the tomb. And so I founded Kurt Krieger's Elite School for Warfare. Korbinian had plans too, but as usual, he preferred to keep them to himself.
